Dear All,
Luke, Dorie and I have been down at Mike's over the last couple of months and have nearly finished the new album. The tracks are mainly acoustic but on a few of the more groovy numbers we have been joined by Jim on drums and Kevin on the bass guitar. Mike has been handling the technical side and with the help of his Neuman microphones and Focusrite channels, he has got a very warm and yet still hifi sound.
Luke has recorded some fantastic guitar lines on his new Martin and Dorie has organised the harmonies with firm finesse. I have coughed and spluttered my way through the vocals and scratched a bit of rudimentary guitar on the tapes! Anyway now we are looking for a title for the record, so if you have any suggestions let us know (keep it clean!).
We have done a great photo shoot with photographer Gemma Day that reflects the rootsy feel of the songs, some of which were composed in America with veteran songwriters and some of which I wrote with the band in England. A sort of 'Rural scenes and magazines and truckers on C.B. and Richard Pryor on the video' type of vibe!
We are booking shows for the summer as we speak so it looks like we may be seeing some of you quite soon and this year we are trying to stretch out to a few more states, than we have managed recently. We want to come to Colorado Oregon, Texas Califonia, Tennessee and the East Coast. I will let you know as soon as these endeavors come to fruition.
In the meantime Luke and I are trying to get hold of some solid guitar cases so we can check our 'axes' in the hold and not have to wander around the airports of the West looking like an albino Gypsy Kings cover band. Not that that is a bad thing!
