Jim Kimberley: Drums
I have played drums since the age of 0yrs. You prob'ly don't believe
me but it's true. Back then it was just kitchen pots and wooden
spoons. Now of course it's PEARL MASTERS SERIES (all maple) and
ZILDJIAN Super 5A. Pretty cool for a poor bald child from the wrong
side of the tracks eh?
Oh sure the glitterati has, from time to time, beaten a path to
my door. Great artists such as Nick Heyward, Squeeze, Kimberley
Rew, The Lightening Seeds, Nick Harper, Glenn Tilbrook; familiar
names to you all I'm sure, became more like friends than employers.
But fortunes can go down as well as up, and when I was down it took
William Topley to pluck me from the obscurity of the New Cross Inn
(London SE15) where I was eking out a meagre existence in a Lynyrd
Skynyrd tribute band (twice weekly).
The good times have been rocking ever since. It's been a rollercoaster
of sold out shows, glamorous back-stage parties, hangin' in prestigious
studios and touring the globe in a big chrome bus (gotta love the
bus).
Ultimately of course we all have you, our public, to thank for this
enviable lifestyle and so I do. Thank you all. It's a BLAST!
